Miriam + Tyler | A Summer Wedding at Emalee’s Venue

From the Idaho Falls Temple to Rexburg
Miriam and Tyler began their wedding day in Idaho Falls, where they were sealed in the Temple of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
After celebrating outside the temple with family and friends, the day moved back to Rexburg for their ceremony and reception at Emalee’s Venue, known by many local vendors as Emalee’s Barn.
Emalee’s Barn
Emalee’s Venue is exactly what its local nickname suggests: a real barn, beautifully maintained and transformed into a warm, light-filled wedding space without losing the character of the property.
Towering glass-paneled doors bring natural light into the barn, while a silver Airstream outside serves as a charming getting-ready space. The property feels polished without feeling manufactured.
I also had the chance to meet Emalee herself, which made the venue feel even more personal.
A Ceremony Before the Rain
The afternoon had been bright and incredibly hot, but as Miriam and Tyler’s ceremony approached, the sky began to change.
Surrounded by roughly 175 family members and friends, they had their ceremony with Miriam’s great uncle, Craig Durfee, officiating.
Then, almost perfectly on cue, the rain began.
Everyone made it inside while it was still just a light drizzle, and the celebration continued with dinner, speeches, cake, and dancing.
The People Around Her
Some of the most beautiful moments of the evening weren’t about wedding details at all. They were about the people surrounding Miriam.
Her relationship with her dad was especially sweet to watch. During their father-daughter dance, they moved between crying, laughing, hugging, and simply enjoying each other’s company. You could tell immediately how much affection there was between them. It felt less like watching a traditional wedding dance and more like getting a tiny glimpse into their relationship.
And if there was any question about where Miriam’s love of dancing came from, her mom quickly answered it.
Once she was on the dance floor, mom seemed to know every line dance that came on. And when she didn’t, she picked it up almost immediately. By that point, it became pretty clear that dancing might simply be in this family’s blood.
Then there were Miriam’s sisters.
They brought the sweetest energy to the entire day. Artistic and expressive, they wore some of the most fun outfits and dresses, many of which they had made themselves. They were constantly complimenting the people around them, hugging Miriam, crying with her, and absolutely fawning over their big sister.
Miriam was the first of the sisters to get married, and you could feel how significant that was to them.
At one point during the reception, they took over the dance floor with a song and dance dedicated to her, singing and dancing around Miriam while she stood in the middle taking all of it in.
It was funny, emotional, and completely endearing.
Between her parents, her sisters, and Miriam herself, one thing was undeniable: this family knew how to fill a dance floor.
And then there was Tyler. He was so incredibly loving and supportive throughout the entire day. There was such a gentleness in the way he cared for Miriam, and you could see how much he adored her just by the way he looked at her. He was attentive, sweet, and completely present. It was one of those things no one needed to explain. You could simply see how deeply in love he was.
Back Where It All Started
For a couple who met dancing, Miriam and Tyler could really dance.
One of my favorite moments of the reception was Miriam dancing with her maid of honor and best friend. The two of them took over the floor in what looked like a fully choreographed routine, completely in their own world and having an absolute ball.
But my favorite dance came after the reception was technically over.
Miriam changed into a white sweatsuit, Tyler into black, and they returned to the nearly empty dance floor for one private last dance.
There was no audience left. Just the two of them, Mica, and me behind our cameras.
And they danced.
The entire thing looked choreographed, but it wasn’t. They were freestyling together, moving so naturally that it felt like something they had rehearsed a hundred times.
More importantly, they weren’t performing for anyone.
They were simply dancing with each other.
For a story that began on a dance floor, it felt like the perfect way to end their wedding.
Sparklers + Summer Rain
Outside, a light rain was still falling as everyone gathered with sparklers.
Miriam and Tyler ran through their send-off toward a getaway car their family had absolutely covered in decorations and stuffed with balloons. It was chaotic, ridiculous, and perfect.
They somehow squeezed themselves inside and drove away through the drizzle.
Almost immediately afterward, the sky opened into a full summer downpour.
It felt as though the storm had waited just long enough for them to finish their ceremony, celebrate with everyone they loved, dance one last time, run through the sparklers, and drive away.
Then it poured.
And after everyone was gone, Mica and I took advantage of the empty dance floor for one very deserved dance of our own before packing up our cameras while the rain came down outside.
What stays with me most about Miriam and Tyler’s wedding isn’t one perfectly styled detail or carefully planned moment.
It’s how completely they enjoyed it.
They danced, laughed, celebrated with their people, ran through the rain, and stayed present for all of it.
It felt lived in.
Those are always my favorite weddings to film.

Emalee’s Venue is a genuine barn property that has been beautifully cared for while keeping the character that makes it special. The towering windows, natural light, and silver Airstream getting-ready space are especially beautiful on camera. Meeting Emalee herself only made the experience more personal.

Mica of Moments by Mica and I were basically attached at the hip all day, and we had an absolute blast working together.
Photo and video teams share so much of a wedding day, and having people who genuinely enjoy working alongside one another makes a difference. With Mica, it was effortless. We helped each other, worked around each other, and genuinely had fun doing it.

Thomas Scott MC | MC + DJ
Thomas isn’t simply a wedding DJ. He’s a professional MC and entertainer, and you could tell before the wedding even began.
He personally connected with the vendor team beforehand and shared an exceptionally thorough timeline, complete with the information we needed to coordinate with one another. That preparation made it much easier for all of us to know what was coming and work together throughout the reception.
His hosting style is lively, interactive, and comedic, making him a great fit for couples who want someone with a big personality keeping the evening moving.

Sammi Price | Florals
Sammi and her assistant personally handled the florals and setup, and the amount of care they put into everything showed. The flowers were gorgeous, beautifully cared for, and felt personal to the space.
Sammi was also incredibly warm, fun, and easy to work alongside. I believe she’s newer to the wedding industry, but I never would have guessed it from her work. She did an amazing job and is absolutely someone I would recommend.

Films by NMR | Wedding Film + Content Creation
I created Miriam and Tyler’s wedding film while also capturing content throughout the day for them to enjoy and share while everything was still fresh.
The film focused on the people, movement, sound, and beautifully imperfect moments that made their wedding feel like itself. Alongside that, I captured behind-the-scenes moments, candid clips, details, guest interactions, and the in-between memories that may not make it into the final film but still deserve to be remembered.
I love that content creation gives couples a different way to experience their wedding day. It’s less about creating another polished version of the day and more about preserving the spontaneous moments around it: the quick reactions, little conversations, behind-the-scenes pieces, and memories that happen between the bigger events.
